The assistants don't really do much of anything, and the actions you make between games are negligible compared to your performance on the field. The Franchise mode as a whole is interesting, though has the same problem of feeling unnecessary. Sure, the other version has had these features, but it's nice to see them make it onto the Wii. You can build your team from scratch using the fantasy Draft option, and all Free Agent purchases are done through real time bidding wars. The rest of us, though, now have a non-motion based alternative control scheme.įranchise mode got beefed up a bit with some new features. For those of you that liked waggling the Wii Remote to catch, or using the pointer to make passes, those controls stay intact. On the improvement front, you can finally play Madden with the Classic Controller, making it feel more like its counterpart on the 360 and PS3.
However, the experience feels fundamentally the same. Madden NFL 12 still features the more stylistic, simplified approach to football, with both 5vs5 and 11vs11 modes, as well as a Franchise mode that feels like Madden mixed with a SimCity. In fact it improves on a lot of aspects from last year. Not to say that Madden NFL 12 is a bad game, it's actually pretty good. For the first time, Madden on Wii just feels like a roster update.
But for Madden NFL 12, EA Tiburon improved a few of the features, without adding anything new. It evolves significantly each year, which is more than the other versions of Madden can say. Key game features include: graphical presentation reminiscent of national television broadcasts, gameplay improvements such as a new pass-ready system, improved play action, and the all-new read and react defensive AI system, Madden social/play functionality, multiplayer support online and offline, and the ability to build the ultimate franchise as a coach, an NFL superstar, or yourself.For better or worse, Madden NFL on Wii has made numerous, significant changes to its formula over the last few years.
